in Credit cards
Hello - I know this is the wrong Forum but I was wondering if anyone can help.
I am currently a Nationwide Customer and have a Cash Card Account - the basic of basic. However I have moved to london and on a night it is difficult if you have lost your oyster card to get home on the buses and you need a Contactless Card. Nationwide only offer these on the Flexdirect, FlexPlus and (I think) Flexaccount. Also they offer Mobile and Travel Insurence, on the whole the Nationwide seem a decent bunch.
I would like to Upgrade, however does an upgrade involve a Credit Search? If so I have no chance as my credit report is pap, alothough it is improving and I was giving a temporary overdraft by the NAtionwide which I kept up with payments on time and that is paid off.
So 3 questions - 1. Is it easy to do? 2. Will they look at my credit report as I am already a customer? 3. If they need to look at my Credit Report will it be affected due to its poor rating?
Again, sorry for posting this in here but I searched and I could not find a suitable place, unless I did look properly and its the Nightshifts catching up on me.

If you know its the wrong forum why not post in the bank account forum just a few lines below?
Most banks will do a credit search when upgrading from a basic account to one that potentially allows overdrafts etc but will also factor in their own history of you too0 -

Even if you dont want an overdraft??0 -
Yes they will as these aco!!!!s have the potential for an overdraft in fact the flexplus comes with a 100 fee free overdraft as standard and the flex gives the option so yes they will for a forced upgrade, i.e one that you request to be manually added, you can get the option to upgrade via internet banking or they will give you one automatically and these dont come with a credit search but it is likely your account is flagged when you applied not to offer these even if the option appears within internet banking when you apply it says it cant offer you an upgrade at this time..

Normally yes because you get a card that operates off line and so even if you dont have a formal overdraft its possible to spend more than you've got. Basic accounts typically only have online cards so if they cannot verify funds the transaction declines instead.
On/off line doesnt refer to internet transactions but if the payment is authorised in realtime or not. Pay at Pump, airlines, on train purchases etc tend to all be offline so actually done at a later time. Similarly if a merchant's connection is down it may trip over to offline authorisations0
