Faulty Jeans - Red Herring

Not sure where to put this, so thought here

I have been trying to find jeans for a while, I was really happy when I found a pair of Jeans from Red Herring. I've worn them 3 times and they're literally falling to pieces! I don't have the receipt, but possibly have my bank statement.

The thing is I'm not sure if it's my fault or if it's just a fault of the jeans. The top of the back of the jeans the denim part looks like it has worn away. It looks as if some sort of corrosive liquid was spilled onto it, but I can't think of any incidence of it happening.

I'm going to return because they're not fit for purpose, but just worried they'll say that I ruined them. I've had them for about a month. Is there anything I can say that will help me if I have a problem taking them back?

So where does the corrosive liquid come in? I've had many items fall a part either due to normal wear or something totally unacceptable and never even considered it being caused by a corrosive liquid.

Under 6 months its for the merchant to disprove that they are faulty rather than you to prove that they are. Just drop the comments about corrosion unless you know something and just arent being honest with us
