Applied for a co-op cashminder account where I got a letter back asking for a certified proof of ID and address.
Sent a new application off with the requested certified IDs and they have just sent a letter stating 'after careful consideration we are unable to offer you the account requested'
I'm currently discharged and running out of options of getting my own account.
I don't have a Barclays that's nearby I could book an appointment.
At this stage I would think about those monthly fee accounts if anyone has no other suggestions?

(most done via computer WILL fail despite discharge etc) you can appeal in the meanwhile & see what they say

I don't have a Barclays that's nearby I could book an appointment. it'd be worth trying other than that try some of the high street banks..natwest gave me an account after discharge no questions asked..just have a copy of discharge proof when they ask
At this stage I would think about those monthly fee accounts if anyone has no other suggestions? sadly I wont reccomend an account like that all them seem to be is to profit from other peoples need..with a little work you should be able to find a bank that will open an account without paying these leeches a monthly fee
Just a few random thoughtsNot quite a newbie as you think

The FFrees family account is free and they are bankrupt friendly
they do charge 75p to withdraw from an ATM though unless you pay for their top product. 0 -

It's an ideal account if you can't get an account with the cooperative or Barclays, most bankrupts won't have large amounts of cash to squirrel away in a bank anyway

thanks for the replies. Looks interesting and will look into this one more. It's only to pay my wages into and get use of a debit card. £10 per month doesn't seem bad with free atm withdrawals.
On the talk of appealing co-ops decision. Does anyone know how you go about this.
I am on the electoral roll so can't see it being that.
Tried Nat west there but got declined in 0.01 seconds. Lol0 -

Simples, really.
First, apply again, but this time over the phone [to Manchester].
Explain exactly the product you want [CAshminder or two]....inform the customer adviser you are a Discharged Bankrupt [give details, date of Discharge, etc] and tell them to expect an immediate rejection.
Then ask them to immediately 'appeal'.
The appeal gets sent straight away to the department that deals with Bankruptcies.
Generally speaking, they get back to you pretty soon, and give details of what is required with regards to ID, etc, and how to go about it.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
