Mid-market rent help

Options
Hi all.

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a couple of things regarding mid-market rent.

- My girlfriend and I are looking to move out into our own place and we are looking into mid-market renting with a housing association. I understand that there is a limit on what you can earn per annum (£36000 for a couple) to be able to apply for a house. I work full time and I am salaried. My girlfriend on the other hand works full time but is classed as self employed due to her job being freelance. She also has her own jewellery business and has savings. I just want to know will the housing association knock back an application for having a large amount of savings or being self employed? I did phone the housing association but they couldn't really give me a clear answer and I don't want to apply for it to be knocked back as they do credit checks.

- My other question is regarding the credit checks. I have been good recently and paid off a few things (overdraft, a TV on credit and a sofa) and these have all been paid off early which leaves me with 2 credit cards. Will paying these things off early have good affect on my credit rating?

I'm sorry for the long description but I just want to make things as clear as possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D
