Little bit late this month in updating...
Still working from home and as busy as ever....looks like i wont be back in London until at least September....and my wife also got told it will be at least 2 months until her office re-opens in the city.
So that means continuing to save approx £500 per month in travel and London lunches so every cloud...
We had a bit of garden work done in May so that took a chunk out of or spare cash....and also we had our house alarm yearly fee due....so we only finished the month with a few hundred in the account...so on Monday we saved £2k, being Mays leftovers and the usual monthly amount of £1,800
So mortgage NET balance including cash savings is £24,892....9 months to go!1 -

Another month gone, another post....i hope everybody reading this is well
So we've takin the decision to renovate our back garden after our rickety old summer house broke lol. The roof was shot and one of the doors literally fell off. So we've had it ripped down and a replacement is on order. We've also had some fencing replaced and have some nice rattan furniture on order. We're going to get some artificial grass also installed, so safe to say we're not saving any money towards the mortgage this month as its all going on the garden!
So as of today, still a total NET balance a smidge over 24k owed1 -
Morning!
Hope everyone is well? Quiet month for us in July and ended up with still £1,500 in our account on payday. Amazing really being our garden project is still ongoing. We're having artificial grass installed on Thursday which isnt cheap, but hopefully it will look nice and last us years. So over the weekend i transferred this plus our usual £1,800 into savings. Mortgage payment has come out this morning so NET balance is £20,209! However i cant see us saving much over the next month or so as the grass will need paying for and its also my birthday so we have the week off so will be out and about doing as much as we can1 -
How exciting for you that the end is in sight! 20k left is fantastic.Happy birthday for later in the month too!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!1 -
Happy September!
Pleased to report the garden is finished. Looks really nice...just in time for the sun to disappear for winter lol. Not entirely sure on the final cost....somewhere between 5-6k i think. But done now so all good.
We're now moving on to the next project...daughters bedroom. Shes 15 now and has out grown her single bed so at the weekend we've ordered her a double. Luckily her bedroom is quite nice already so just a lick of paint and some furniture moved around and perhaps a TV and shes good to go.
We've also booked a midweek break down Sandbanks way for October half term so that should be nice, and ive also booked a golf weekend mid September :-)
So along with the end costs of finishing the garden including a pull back of some of Julys savings for the fake grass, aswell as holiday booking and bed purchase, sorry to say just the contracted payment to the mortgage this month. So NET balance is still 20k owed0 -
Hi Folks
Officially in the teens!!! NET balance owed as at today £17,987! woop woop
Had a good month....daughters bedroom nearly finished...had a bit of a splurge on a TV for her room which will be hung on the wall. We have one happy 15 year old lol, especially as the TV in her room is a better spec than what we have in the living room!
Looking like we'll still be WFH until the new year, so we are also saving 2 lots of travel costs per month, so £2,100 put away yesterday towards being mortgage free!0 -
Fantastic progress! A finished garden, a refreshed teen space, and a mortgage in the 17k range. That must be an amazing feeling. Do you know how you will celebrate?Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00
Mortgage end date Dec 2045 - NOT!!!!
Mortgage balance - $4600.00
Business Savings $43,310/100k
Hope to be mortgage-free by end of 20231 -
Thank you for your kind comment....Its nice to be so close, yet still a little bit to go until the end. As i have documented we have spent a little out of the ordinary over the past couple of months....i wonder if we had a larger balance whether we would of done this or not? On my calculator i have April will be the final payment....this is if we continue to save 2k+ per month, every month, so fingers crossed and we don't get anymore wild home improvement ideas haha
Celebrations....hmmm not really thought about it really....i guess a nice meal out and a bottle of the bubbly stuff?1
