dell order preproduction help

hello i ordered a dell computer friday 20 july

it is still on preproduction

how long will it take it to change to production

are dell looking for the parts

how long before they start producing the desktop c521

also how long do people normally recieve desktops from dell

my estimated deivery date is 16 august 2007

I also have a Dell (Vostro desk top) on order since Friday, and it's in pre-production. But the estimated delivery date is 8 Aug - possibly they have the parts in stock for mine.

In my experience Dell always deliver ahead of the ETD
Keep an eye on the order progress up to dispatch - then follow the tracking to get an idea when it will arrive. They sometimes telephone to arrange the delivery - but recently this hasn't been done.

I got a Dell a while back. The offer changed the day after I bought it so I phoned up to talk about the new offer and was told my machine was already built and being shipped. (I still got the better offer but it had to go a bit of a roundabout way.)

I've ordered from DELL before and found that usually it is delivered just before the ETA. I also found that it jumps from pre-production to shipped in one day.

I ordered on a Sunday night a few weeks back and it delivered on the Thursday that week. Just depends which components you have ordered, they were short of 22" monitors back then, I just went for a standard 19".

i also have ordered a vostro desktop (ordered 23/07/07) and my ETD is 10/08/07. mines still in preproduction, any updates with yours yet?

my brother ordered a C521 a couple of weeks ago and it came in about 6 days, i know some other people that have ordered vostros, so i think they are probably waiting for a lot of 1 specific part.

I ordered a laptop on the 16/17th? Its still in preproduction and its ETA date is the 5th of September. Looks like you guys are getting a better deal than me anyway!

update: has jumped to delivery preparation overnight.

Itwas down as 2/8/07 for delivery, but they have just changes it to 15/8/07, I had an email

Confirmed delivery date 03/08/2007 - 5 days 'early' - still slower than usual.
