Why does it sound dubious? Namepros is a large and well respected forum with millions of posts. It is a forum for the domain industry. They held a charity auction on Friday night in which a lot of their members pledged donations of time to help start a new forum. I won the auction (this also includes a transcript of the auction) and have decided to extend the spirit of charitable giving by donating $1 for every new member that makes 10 posts before the end of August. Yes, I benefit by getting new members and activity on the forum, but Cancer Research UK will also benefit from the increased donation.
Sorry if I didn't explain it very well the first time, but hopefully this clears it up. After all it's only a few minutes of your time and you've got nothing to lose.
EDIT: Here is the transcript of the auction, I'd have to be pretty desperate for a few quid to make all this lot up.

Is there an British equivalent?
The site is for people from all over the world, mostly from the US and UK, as it is an English language site. I have used dollars as it is simpler just to use one currency, but the donation will be made in sterling as it is going to Cancer Research UK.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -

I'm sorry if you feel this is spam, but I can assure you it is completely genuine. I've never heard of Bob's Free Stuff, this was just something I decided to do when I won the auction last weekend to help raise some extra money for cancer research. I presume you never followed any of the links provided otherwise I doubt you would come to this conclusion.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0
