i am after a 15" or 17" monitor for a pc with a built in tv tuner
his bedroom can't house a tv and pc
i would like to know which is suitable for playing games for my son using the internet and also to recieve tv channels
my budget isn't high and i'm hoping to get something for under £220
the cheaper the better of course!

Buy a TV card (either PCI or USB) for the PC this costs around £50 and upwards.
I presume he has aerial and a monitor already.
I have the one they call the Mentor Digital TV tuner PCI. With decent aerial it is very good and you can record to hard drive.

The analogue TV tuner can be placed inside the PC as an internal PCI card (£40 tops). Some digital terrestrial tuner models are available as USB external devices as well as internal PCI. You will need good reception conditions to use these.
There is no need for a tuner to be a part of any display equipment. It is just a percieved convention. You can get stand alone analogue TV tuners in a small box that will drive a conventional computer monitor without a PC.
