With BT, you must have a dd set up to have monthly billing. If you have a dd with monthly bills and cancel the dd you will be put back on quarterly bills.

Thats not true I had monthly billing for years and no direct debit set up.

    Update-aargh.

After me being assured the last time several months ago that this was sorted out-she has just found out they have been debiting £25 a month out of her bank account to a business line (she hasnt got a business line ) with a different account number.45 mins holding on then she had to go as she has a sick baby to take to the doctors.

DD Guarantee - immediate reversal of each of those DDs.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I spoke to her bank-lloyds- and outlined the situation without giving her name-they just said she needed to ring the bank and cancell the dd,then get written proof from bt that she signed an agreement. Her private phone line of £77.00 remains unpaid. Is this wrong then-can it be simpler..please..Obviusly they have added an additional wrong account number.
They knew before there was confusion over her number or address PREVIOUSLY being linked to a business line so its not new news..
