Have you made sure of the basics like on electoral role etc as one default does not seem much for so many little things to be turned down.0

Definitely obtain your credit reports from all the agencies. You're assuming this is the only problem but there might be errors on your reports that you know nothing off. Get them and check them - there is no other way of finding out if this is the sole cause and as others have said... get on the electoral register.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more!
