You won't get the incentive for switching from Halifax to Halifax!
Perhaps you should read the incentive T&Cs on their website?0 -
No as others have pointed out why didn't you read the T&C's of the £100 incentive for switching? Quite clearly states how to get the £100 offer, why would switching from Halifax to another Halifax account get you the incentive?Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

I have halifax reward account and when I was in branch was encouraged to switch and get £100. The counter staff insisted I'd get the £100 if I switched from another provider even though I already had a halifax account. They must be wrong mustn't they? Given that they messed up the simple transaction I did that day, the odds in favour of accuracy seem low.0

No, they are right. Existing Halifax customers who've not had a switching incentive since Jan 2012 are eligible.0 -
That's a hundred quid for nowt? Seems too good to be true! But better £100 in my pocket than theirs.0

Probably messed up your transaction as they were more bothered about getting you to swap your bank account to them! :T0 -
Amazingly it is true. I get 100 smackers for switching my metro account (no direct debits, v low balance) to my existing Halifax rewards account. Wish I had another couple of dormant current accounts to switch to First Direct and m&s! Money for old rope.0

Why wish?...do something about it.Wish I had another couple of dormant current accounts to switch to First Direct and m&s!
Just go open 2 more accounts somewhere. Or, perhaps better still, open a standard Halifax 'Current Account' and switch that to M&S, and from there to FD...and you'll have another £200+ by Christmas!...or even £300+ if you go via Co-op.0 -
How many accounts can one open at once without self destructing? I've applied for 2 with good interest rates, plus a 0% purchase cc, all in the past week. Plus how long does one have to keep the dummy accounts before switching? And some are going to have to have direct debits ...
There surely comes a point when the banks get suspicious about so many credit checks bunching up together?0 -
Who knows!? I certainly haven't found the limit, despite opening 4 or 5 in a month...twice...albeit a couple of years ago.How many accounts can one open at once without self destructing?
Just as long as it takes to set up a couple of SOs/DDs/bill payments.Plus how long does one have to keep the dummy accounts before switching?
As far as I'm aware, only Co-op requires a couple of DDs?...and that's easily sorted, courtesy of Tesco savings accounts. And some are going to have to have direct debits ...
I would imagine it's blatantly obvious, in the current climate, to a manual underwriter why I have 19 current accounts...and others on here report having had approaching 30 current accounts at a time! There surely comes a point when the banks get suspicious about so many credit checks bunching up together?0
