Help retrieving daughters bbm messages

I hope someone can help me and i also hope this is in the right section.

On checking my daughters phone Friday evening we cam e across a rather disturbing conversation. Since reporting it to the police they have confirmed it is grooming and we are due to take the phone to them this evening and my daughter to be interviewed.

I used the 'copy chat' function on the phone and saved it to the device as i know bbm messages delete after a few days.

I've checked the phone this morning and all but a couple of the messages have gone (she hasn't touched the phone since it was taken away from her)

I don't know where abouts on the phone it will have saved, her dad and i have tried googling it but to no avail and i don't really want to mess with the phone any further.

Will the police have the means of retrieving the lost messages?

The police will have access to forensic IT experts who are able to locate and retrieve the data from the blackberry - don't worry about trying to do it yourself. You're right that it is probably best not to 'mess' with it yourself.

Thank you, that's a huge weight off my mind, I did think that they would have some kind of tech savvy people there (i'm a bit of technology dinosaur) but suppose i just needed to hear it from someone else.
