Is there a 'smart thermostat' that I can use with my wet central heating system?

A friend mentioned the nest to me this morning and I decided to start looking into these new thermostats. Our current thermostat is just a bog standard programable and is broken so we can only turn the hearing on or off.

Does anyone know if there's any I could use with wet central heating?

You need to provide slightly more information. What type of boiler do you have? Do you have TRVs fitted to your existing radiators? Is someone at home all day - perhaps working from home?

A lot of claims are made for smart thermostats because they are being pushed hard by BG, Google etc. They are little more than a wifi thermostat that can be controlled either by movement (or lack of) or by smartphone.

If you want to think about extending the system in the future then you need to consider a smart thermostat such as Evohome or Heat Genius which can be linked to wireless TRVs.
