Car insurance screen scrapers

I have just used two different screen scrapers. (the web sites that go away with all your details and check xx% of all the online, in this case, car insurers.)
Curiously, all the major insurers come back with quotes, but strangely at different prices dependant on which web site you use. One of these sites assures its users that they dont take a penny from us the searcher, yet their quotes are more expensive.
Any suggestions?
Methinks that skullduggery is afoot. Or in my case I'll just tell my company that I have been quoted lower and let them give me that or a lower price and work the rest out for themselves.

Different sites make different assumptions about you and your details.
I would guess the 2 different sites have been different assumptions, or used your details in a different way. For example, my job title varies according to the insurance website. On one broker I can be a Engineering Technician, and others I will be a Technical Engineer. This can then be changed down the line at the individual insurance company and reflex in the policy.
In my experience, these screen scrapers aren't 100% accurate - and it's worth going on the individual sites and inputting your data again or getting on the telephone and haggling.0 -
The trick is to get a quote from each of the "scrapers" - confused, insuresupermarket & g o c o m p a r e.... then try some independents not listed by these sites, eg Tesco, Direct Line, Privilege plus some independent brokers if you know any.
Then check to see if the best 10 or so quotes in terms of both price AND cover, are any cheaper if you buy via the likes of quidco or greasypalm.
I got my renewal figure of 480 to 250 doing the above.0
