Hi all

I've been trying to update my Adaware definitions for about 2 weeks now, but I always get an "Error retrieving updates" message.

Short of redownloading the program - anyone any ideas?
Anyone else having problems?

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

No, I've never had a problem. I check for updates twice a week and I download them without a problem. Since ad-aware is so easy to instal, I'd remove it from the computer and download again. Unless anyone else has better advice - which is very likely. :o

I had the same thing - and when I went to their web page, I discovered that Ad-aware 2007 has now been released. Might be their way of getting us to update?

I downloaded the new version, and everything is running smoothly again.

Thanks for that - I'll have a look when I get home.

OK - just updated to AdAware 2007 and still cannot download any updates. All I'm getting is an "Error contacting server" message. I've checked the firewall (Kerio) settings, and they should allow all traffic through Adaware so I'm out of ideas.

    Help, anyone?

I was going to say that it nothing to do with updating to the 2007 version, as your (then) current version is supported until the end of this year.

What happens when you switch Kerio off and put the XP Firewall on?

you can just go to the website and download the update to you PC then unzip the file and move the defs.ref file to

    c:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware SE personal

That will give you the latest update, whether it will then do an auto update in the future I don't know.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
