I have an 8 year old daughter with an android tablet, and she wants Minecraft.
I have done a bit of research, and it looks a pretty cool concept, just got a few questions that I hope somebody can help me with.
Are there different versions?
What version does she want?
Do you just get from playstore?
Are there lots of extras to play for?
Can you get gift vouchers for paying for the extras?
Is it possible for her to run up a big bill? And if so, are there parental controls for me to set in it?
Do people limit their kids to the single user version?
Anything else I need to know about it, especially anything dodgy?
Thanks

Hi,
Minecraft on the tablet is different from Minecraft on a PC or Xbox/PS3, is still "under development" but I suspect Microsoft will drive this through to full version once they start driving development.
For a proper minecraft experience you can join servers with your friends characters and work together. Or may be she is just happy building her own world, where the tablet version may be a fine place to start, though the controls are a bit clunky.
Tablet version is a one-off payment (from memory about £5.99).
"Added extras" can come from the server versions set up across the world, where you can buy "special powers / extras" from the server owner. This is not available on the tablet version afaik.
The PC/xbox/PS3 version is more expensive (£17 / £13).
The PC version is more customisable (minecraft mods) but this may not be of interest to an 8-year old :-)
Hope this helps give you a better picture.

Hi
It is used in some schools as a teaching aid, so there are some safe areas.
