Problem opening attachments

hello all , was wondering if anyone can help? I have just bought a new PC ( a compaq presario) running Vista home basic. When I try to open any e-mail attachment it tells me:

C\uaer.LAR\APPdata\local\microsoft\windows\tempinternetfiles\low
\content\IES\ovmojfrv\RA+template(1) doc: file may be in use by
another application\ file format may not be supported by any of the
installed converters or the file may be corrupted.

The pc tries to open the attachment in works word processor. (if this is any help).

Hope someone can help? Neil

    RA+template(1) doc
Is there a dot ( . ) between the ) and D in the filename?
Can you save it on the PC and open it?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hi there.

We have been gifted a Compaq computer with a Vista Home Premium operating system.

    We are having similar probs.

It won't let us download attachments in our e-mails. It seems to download them into a temporary file but as soon as the download is complete, it goes back to the original message. We have tried to specify a folder to be downloaded to but when we check, it isn't there.

We can download music and pictures but not much else.

Have tried to download virus checkers and Firefox, but although it goes through the process, the item's can't be found anywhere.

Any help really would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    The Attachment is labled RA+TEMPLATE(1).DOC

I have just managed to open one attachment by saving it and then opening it from the documents folder but it does seem a rather time consuming way of doing things!
