Make my own desktop icons

Can anyone tell me how i can use a picture as a desktop icon ... for instance i would like to cut a picture (i have photoshop) of my boys face and use it as an icon for his folder of internet shortcuts.

if its to put on a folder (rather than a short cut) its really easy in Windows XP
right click the folder > properties > customise then click the choose picture button and follow the prompts

i was thinking more about a shortcut from the desktop.

I would recommend downloading IconEasel, its FREE and you can simply paste an image into it to create an Icon image for your pc, you can download it from http://www.easyapps.com/

I've been meaning to try IcoFX which I've seen recommended a few times.

If you've already got a pic that you'd like to convert to an icon, lots of image manipulation progs (eg. irfanview) will let you save things as .ico (icon) files
