hello
I have a £9000 mortgage with TSB . and over some time I have got in arrears £620. I got a letter from them saying they was going to take me court over this on 7 July . I rang them and agreed to clear up the arrears before the court date ( which we have ) and now have a letter from there solicitors saying there is a charge of £720 which as been added to the mortgage to cover there costs . this is a lot of money to us . its like a year mortgage payments . can they do this as I did clear up the arrears before the court hearing and £720 is a lot of money to have added to my mortgage ..
could anyone give me any advice ...

Well if the amount has been added to the mortgage then IMHO you shouldn't really notice it in terms of much effect on your monthly payments.
The costs will be legal costs in getting to the stage of a court date, I don't think you can argue against those as they are not penalty charges. You could ask them for a breakdown of how this figure was arrived at and you could then dispute anything you think is wrong, or looks extortionate for the work involved, like for instance £50 to send a letter).
(Oh to have a mortgage that's only 4 figures..... ).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
