  • rc, you are working hard and have just been through a stressful move, sounds to me like you need support, not a sulk over a trowel. They are funny things aren't they. Maybe he needs a bit of attention, don't forget to praise when he behaves well :rotfl: Sometimes does the trick (don't give attention to the bad behaviour) :rotfl:

Hope your grump has gone. :). I used to love cutting and sticking with DD and I still help with her painty projects sometimes. Pasta is great, paint it, stick it or thread it onto string for jewellery. Salt dough is great for modelling things and can be painted and is so cheap.

My DD was the same with orange bits. I even strained a whole carton once - there were a lot of bits!

Gardener sounds good - maybe he'll have a trowel? :rotfl:

Hope you have a good day. Keep up the good work.

You're right supersaver, not getting any support at all. He hasn't actually spoken to me since lunch on Tuesday. Trying not to think about it and concentrate on everything else that's going on. Must say we are loving the new house, even if we are still in boxes :-) your post made me laugh!

Hadn't thought of pasta and haven't heard of salt dough...will have to look that up for half term. How old is your dd?

I think I've missed a day somewhere, so this is update on Tuesday...

Made tea from boiling water from flask from previous night's pasta. Still had no heating on, though did find it hard getting out of bed wednesday morning :-/ tea bag used twice. Dd took clothes off as soon as she came home from school and wore same uniform to school as still clean. She didn't eat the cheddars in her lunchbox, so I ended up having them in mine yesterday (not really something I like, but not wasting them even though they were given to me!).

Used a napkin to wrap her biscuits in in her lunchbox, instead of putting them in a tub. Had spoken to her about making sure the tubs come home but they still weren't doing.

Gave her £1.20 for school for a poppy and stationery, you'd think I'd given her the moon she was so happy about this!!! Empty tic tac packet went in craft drawer (not sure what she'll make with this, but you never know!)

Forgot to park close to work to try and pick her up from school before 5.30 (always used to park furthest away in car park and car just went there in auto pilot) still made it just before 5.30...just..

BF bought lunch, meal deal from sainsburys...barely spoke to me for an hour but he paid and crisps leftover to have another time. Was given a diary for next year from one of the providers we use at work...it's a really nice one as well so was really pleased with that. Still wearing my glasses most days instead of contacts. Did wear perfume Tuesday as was seeing BF, but other days not bothering until I get some cheaper stuff (not high on priority list though). Excess water from kettle for pasta in flask to make cuppas with. Managed to scrap together money for the gardener from change. Empty toilet roll in dd's craft drawer. Gave her 50p for tuck at brownies and she brought it back :)
  • Glad to hear you are happy in your new home.

My dd is 15. The last project was some kind of map, I think I got to finish the sea. :rotfl:

We are both into cooking now, but I seem to end up with a lot of clearing up. Still, at least I get to eat the results, mostly. :)

Salt dough is great and mostly flour and salt I think. You bake it and it goes rock hard. Some people make fabulous decorations, but ours were just kiddy things. If you stick a knitting through each one before baking you can make beads etc.

  • Good luck with your moneysaving and I hope your settled in your new home.

Have alook on the freebie board for perfume samples, I have had some nice ones over the past year, some are little sprays that have lasted me a week or so, others have been the cardboard rub ones I usually use these and then put the cardboard in a clothes drawer to fragrance them. There is currently a new ghost one that I have just requested.

I'm back! The broadband in the new house was connected yesterday. I had run out of data allowance on my mobile to post and had put a block on it to not be able to use it once it had reached it's limit so it wouldn't cost me - money saving, but as a result have had no internet for a week. It's amazing how reliant we are on the internet these days!!!

Without the accountability of posting on here every day my money saving habits have slipped slightly, so today is my fresh start. I put a curry in the slow cooker last night. It is a bit bizarre as my mum had given me a jar of curry sauce, but I didn't have any chicken in so I put sausage in it with a tin of new potatoes I had in the cupboard to stretch it out. Should do four portions, three of which will go in the freezer. Made a lasagne one day last week (wasn't very nice tbh) and three portions of that are in the freezer.

Started being mindful of the lights again today, no heating on this morning. I am struggling to get out of bed in a morning now it is colder, but don't know how to put the heating on the timer anyway. Found a cuppa in the flask from yesterday, that I must've forgotten about. Reused the tea bag and excess hot water from the kettle in the flask.

DD took her uniform off when she got in last night and therefore can wear this again as it is not dirty. Trying to get her into the habit of taking it off as soon as she gets in from school, as I get changed out of my work clothes as soon as I get in anyway.
