Thanks supersaver, although didn't do as well yesterday with the not spending. Was friend's birthday and had no idea what to get her so bought her a voucher...figured she could buy something she really wants with that...and a nice box of chocolates, did pick up a £15 box at first then changed it for a £5 box only slightly smaller size and still nice chocolates. Her card was £1.50, she is a good friend so feel mean watching my money when it is her birthday
Also had to buy a card for another party dd has been invited to, managed to find a suitable present so didn't have to spend on that. Thought I'd done well the other day buying a card from h&b for 29p, but yesterday bought a pack of 8 for £1 - so really pleased with that (so long as I don't lose them in the move!!!)
Had planned on taking BF for lunch yesterday as he has been paying most of the time recently, but he paid again. We did argue (again) so didn't feel too guilty that he'd paid at the time...
Managed to pick dd up before 5.30 therefore saving £1.60. Spoke to mum about cork board I was wanting for the new house, to check if she had one before buying the one I'd seen in Argos and she talked me out of getting one at all.
I did buy dd chicken nuggets from McDonalds again last night, feel guilty even admitting to that as the second time this week. Went to buy friend's present straight from picking her up from school and then was going to friend's to drop off present so wasn't going to be home until late. I had known we were going to be doing this so should've packed her a sandwich, but with so much going on atm didn't think...and tbf would've struggled finding something to put in a sandwich as everything packed in boxes...so another waste of £2.79.
I have realised I've budgeted for another two tanks of petrol until pay day and as pay day is a week on Monday highly unlikely that I will end to fill up more than once - giving me an extra £60 until pay day, I now have £78.18 to last me and I'm still owed some money (£26ish) and £13.59 that shouldn't have been taken out...
Next time I update I should be in my new house0 -
Well we are now in the new house. Was packing from when I posted yesterday morning and finished getting stuff in the house after 9pm last night :-o am now surounded by boxes, can't find anything and don't know where to start!!!0

Can't say I was particularly mindfull of lights yesterday, boiled a full kettle for removal men twice and didn't use all the boiling water and only used the tea bags once. Money saving just wasn't top of the priority list. However, apart from the removal men (which was part of the budget anyway) I didn't spend any money. Nearly ordered a pizza for us when we'd finished last night, but dd fell asleep whilst I was still unloading the car. So today I need to check when I've managed to find the laptop, transfer some PayPal money and I think that's it from a money saving point of view. Hopefully will have more to post tomorrow :-)0

Good luck in your new home! I've read your diary from the start and think you're doing so well0

Well my post from yesterday didn't post for some reason, so here is post from yesterday...
Thanks in need and missu, it doesn't feel like I'm doing well...but when you said that it did make me think when I started this I wasn't sure how I was going to get through until the end of the month and currently I have about £70 to last me a week so maybe I'm doing better than I think :-)
I can't be more precise than about £70 as seem to have misplaced the charger for the laptop in the move and my budget is on there, need to ask BF if he has one I can borrow until I can find it...but asked him if I could borrow a trowel yesterday, money saving so I didn't buy one as only currently need it for one thing...anyway it led to yet another argument (third in a week!) not really sure how asking to borrow a trowel can lead to an argument :-/
Anyway, back to yesterday. Dd likes to make things, really into doing craft things, so have a drawer in new house to put stuff she can make things with. Yesterday put in empty shreddies packet, foil from kit kat, couple of ribbons cushions were wrapped in (present from mum) and some bubble wrap. This will save me buying craft kits for her
Oh and dd has just come downstairs and turned the light off after her...this is major, she normally leaves the lights on wherever she goes!!!
Mum bought removal men butties yesterday and there was a bacon one left, so I had that for breakfast yesterday. Didn't enjoy it as not really a bacon fan, but filled me up and was free. Followed by a kit kat, which mum brought over with various other biscuits which didn't get finished.
Was going to wash down bacon butty with milk that needed finishing off before it went off, but I was too late and had already gone off :-(
Still haven't any heating on as don't know how to work it in this house, but tbh haven't really felt cold yet.
I've saved some little bags to reuse instead of just binning them. Noticed porridge was out of date, so had that for lunch yesterday instead of binning it. Think I will do the same for lunch today, therefore using milk from work. Last night I had a wrap, which was bought for me. I did make dd a hot chocolate last night and forgot to fill the flask with the rest of the boiling water :$
Hadn't thought I'd done that well yesterday as was more focused on unpacking, but writing it down I didn't do too badly and didn't spend any money (although still feels like I'll be unpacking until Christmas)
I am going to start MFP today, this is definitely money saving as it's free as opposed to SW or similar and also none of my clothes seem to fit these past few weeks...too busy with the move to think about healthy eating or exercise I suppose...can't afford to be buying a whole new wardrobe so need to get back into my existing one. Finding the exercise dvds will be on my list for tonight. Bbl xx0 -
Arguing over a trowel? :rotfl: Sounds like a fun evening, but at least it's spend free. You could have gone out for dinner and argued, which we've done lately and that really cheeses me off. If I spend money I want to have a happy time.
ps are you sure he's your boyfriend and not your husband, that sounds like the kind of argument reserved for long term marrieds :rotfl:
Sorry rc12345, couldn't resist. You are doing so well with the money saving, trying to create a lovely home. Don't let anyone sabotage that. I love DDs craft drawer idea. I bet it will be overflowing soon. Have you got glue sticks and pva craft glue. You can pick it up oh so cheaply and it lasts forever. Don't forget about old buttons too, bottle tops, yoghurt pots etc. they make great craft ideas. What a little sweetie to turn off the light. It's great to get them thinking about money saving early, I don't want my DD to end up in debt like us.
Hope you'll be very happy in your new homeOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Thanks for your post supersaver, was feeling really grumpy about it and your post made me lol when I saw it (was at work, so got some funny looks!!) I did e-mail him yesterday morning about how ridiculous it was to still be not speaking to me just because I'd asked to borrow a trowel and we did end up going out for lunch - but barely spoke for the hour. Looked on the bright side though as he paid, so it was a free lunch (just a meal deal from sainsburys) and didn't eat my crisps so have them for today! We've been together nearly a year now and I do wonder if things should still be all fun and exciting at this point :-/
As you say I'll concentrate on making a lovely home and forget about him atm. The craft drawer is getting full, I think it will end up being a craft tub before long. You are so right about the glue, bought a pack of five different types for a pound from the pound shop and they seem to have lasted forever :-)0 -
Just realised my post from yesterday morning has disappeared :@ can't wait to have the broadband installed, posting on my phone is driving me mad!!!
So quick update from my post from yesterday what I can remember to try and keep my diary up to date...
Used back of a sheet of paper was going to bin. Did wash up in hot water as there was such a lot of it, but now on top of it shouldn't need to again. Washed a plastic cup to reuse instead of just binning it and tried to with a paper plate to put in dd's craft drawer, but couldn't get it clean.
Not money saving, but didn't weigh as much as I thought :-) put cheddars in dd's lunchbox that needed eating instead of crisps. Humzinger box in the craft drawer. Some silver foil went in her craft drawer as well. Out of date porridge for lunch. Called re phone line from work instead of using my mobile - £69 for the engineer, that's nearly all the money I had left until payday :-o
Had a look round the pound shop I'd seen near work, but everything wasn't a pound!!! Went to h&b for something I needed to get, cost 99p. One of my problems is not knowing how much I should be paying for things, so no idea if I'm paying over the odds or not. Was going to buy OJ for dd, but it didn't say if it had bits in it and she wouldn't drink it if it had so would've been a waste of money so didn't get it - it was 89p. Also was going to get some shreddies for her as we have run out, but have two packs of raisin wheats in so decided she can finish those before I buy anything else.
Funnily enough she did ask for shreddies, but when I said we didn't have any she was quite happy to have the raisin wheats. The only other thing I bought was chewing gum, 99p for three packs - no idea how that compares. They didn't have any camomile tea, which I still haven't bought. Picked up a light bulb for 39p, but put it back as my mum usually has a stock pile of these and will be seeing her next week so will see if she'll let me have one.
Other than that, some silver foil from kit kat went in dd's craft drawer along with an empty jar, managed to pick dd up before 5.30 again. MFP didn't work out for me as was starving by 3pm and came home and ate my body weight in pasta followed by 2 kit kats!!!
Not going to have a phone line until 3rd November therefore need to make sure they don't charge me from 18th October until 3rd November. Got a gardener for £15, an extra expense but needs doing as really overgrown atm. Didn't end up asking BF to borrow laptop charger as just couldn't do with the hassle, so still can't check my budget until I find this.0
