Hello again, sorry kind of went AWOL from this thread - the joys of the holidays kind of diverted me from my initial money-making/saving enthusiasm! Such is life.
But didnt fail completely here's a very quick, non-specific runthrough of what II've achieved in the last 6 weeks:
Good:
Lots of money saving/using QUidco/vouchers/not spending/buying bargains etc
Made approx £180 on Ebay
Made approx £20 on Amazon selling books
Made approx £10 selling useless teaching books
Saved £30 in 2/50ps
Did one and only mystery shop and made grand total of £10
Just renewed car insurance and house insurance and got £120 cash back on quidco
£5 refunds when wrote letters of complaint about a couple of things
When I broke my Dyson bought great Electrolux pet hoover replacement on Ebay and paid only £30 inc p&p and it's loads better than the Dyson. Plus paid out of my Ebay earnings.
Sold £15 worth of tesco vouchers for £30 on Ebay
Did a carboot sale today and made £69 selling all the stuff that didn't sell on Ebay. And got to stand in the sun - lovely
The Bad:
Went to Barcelona, stayed in v swish hotel, and spent loads of money on cheap Zara clothes, eating tapas and hotel bill.
House needed remortgaging so in the next month need to pay £150 fee for mortgage advisor, pay for new buildings and contents insurance, pay for car insurance, tax car. AAAHHHH!
Mortgage will also go up by £110 as although have got a good fixed rate deal again, my initial mortgage rate was apparently laughably low and will never be seen again.
Signed up to do AS Spanish to brush up on my Spanish and cost £135
Got to get new double glazed bay window as it is leaking, conservative estimate £700.
So my money saving and making went well, but my expenditure has now increased big time. Now, I'm no good at Maths (frequently amuse the kids at school when cover Maths lessons and say things like 'prime number' what's that then?') but even I know that more expenditure than income is not good.Oh dear!
Plus back to school on Monday, new school after 4 years at last so now I'm scared as well as broke! Guess I'd better not teach any PSHE lessons giving advice on finance and looking after money!
Memo to self; I do not need more shoes....::rotfl:0 -
Ah well back to work on monday for some of us, but not most of us supply teachers. So come on teachers start skiving soon then we can earn some dosh
I am soooo skint now, the downside of supply I suppose;) "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Where's six weeks gone then? Mind you, I have to admit I'm almost looking forward to going back as I've changed my hours from Mornigs and one afternoon to 3 full days. so I'm going to have two full days off with my own children in school, bliss!!!!
What's the most exciting inset anyone's got lined up? Ours is the new numeracy framework Monday, and Literacy on Tuesday...0 -

Have been in almost daily this week - builders still in residence, am hoping they'll be done by lunchtime Monday (we have an Inset day on behaviour), or it'll doubtless be my fault somehow! Builders should have started 23/07 - actually started this past Tuesday!!! Needless to say they'll be back at half-term.
Where have the past six weeks gone? Not too much to show for it either in moneysaving terms or housework!
Best of luck to everyone for the fray ahead!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -

Hello to all teachers :j
I'm butting in on this thread as I'm starting my Primary PGCE soon and really want real life opinions on what its like to be a primary teacher(I'm aiming to teaching 6-7 year olds)
I currently work with exluded year 11's so I'm pretty good at controlling a class already but I keep being told really horrible negative things about teaching and why I shouldnt do it.
Please help - pm if poss I want to know about the reality.
