Sorry if this isn't the done thing around here, but just back from Sainsbury's and so so chuffed as got an extra £2.80 off our shop that we strictly speaking shouldn't have lol. It's my first time trying to use coupons when I haven't brought the item on it, so really happy.

I had a £1 voucher from Muller and brought a load of Mullerlights (which are already on 1/2 price anyway, with double nectar points as well) and the guy peered and peered at the voucher when we went to pay (it was direct from Muller for some reason or other, can't remember now) but eventually scanned it in and it came up with the discount. Then we put our second lot of shopping through (we do it in £10 loads to get as many nectar scratch cards as possible) and I had a £3 voucher from Unilever for writing and enquiring about their PG Tips special blend and if it was limited edition or not, a £2.49 off some cider from the front of Good Food mag from mum and a 30p off nestle cereal coupon as well (which we hadn't brought, but had brought Sainsbury's own label cereal hehe). Wasn't going to chance the cider and nestle coupons after the Muller interrogation, but half way through the SA swapped with another guy, so I handed him all three of them (we had brought some PG Tips) and got £5.79 off the total! :D HURRAH!!

Feel like a right bargain hunter (even if the mince I wanted they wouldn't reduce grrrr lol). Yeah me!:D

Well done you:T :T . you will get braver and braver,I used to be a coward and only use self scan, then 1 day i thought id take a chance and it worked and ive never looked back, other posters are correct in saying it all depends on SA just keep a mental note of the good ones!!:o

Asda take coupons to the value of 10% of your shopping so long as they stock the product (& I think a max of 3 of the same coupon). The only time you have to buy the item is if it is an Asda coupon - as they don't get the money back from the supplier.

I almost always have 10% off my shopping!!!

Always pick the checkout where it's a young bloke or girl that look like they can't be bothered to be there!
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

I totally agree with regards to the bored young guys and girls, they are definitely the best to try out your coupon skills on :)

It depends where you normally shop Natalie. Most of the voucher/coupon use is aimed at Tesco as they are the ones most likely to accept coupons for money off your shopping.

You don't even have to buy the product the coupon is for either, you can use a coupon for 30p off Daz on a loaf of bread and vice versa etc etc.

The best places to get moc's (money off coupons) are from Ebay and out of magazines/newspapers. There is a specific magazine thread HERE that will let you know which magazines have moc's in them.

At the moment, there is a £2 coupon in Real People magazine off a Mills and Boon book, this will scan at Tesco and also Asda against your normal shopping, without buying the book, cashier dependant though!

Best advice is to go and read the first page of the Tesco thread and that will give you a better idea of whats what :)

    That's a good summary, Ragtimeplayer.

Just to add that the other 2 stores that officially do accept some money off coupons (mocs) without requiring that you buy the product are Asda and Waitrose. But as with Tesco, it's often different rules at different stores. Don't be embarrassed to ask first at the CS desk, or just ask the cashier, they won't think you are being cheeky (unless you get some old mare who is jealous of your coupons, or your store is one of the 'anti-coupon brigade').

BTW, I find most coupons for free at other Supermarkets (when they are offering tasters of certain products during the day). It's hard to second-guess when they may be doing this, but if you have time mid-morning or mid-afternoon that's a good time to call in a large Supermarket, walk round the entire store to check for a demo stall with coupons on, then if no luck buy a magazine (Real People!) and try again another day. It will take just 10 minutes of your time (longer if you find some coupons and wander past the stall a few times).

Finally, if you are near any sort of Food/Health Festival (London & Birmingham have various ones) always try to go and pick up tons of coupons from each stall...and then go round again! Even if there is a small entry fee you can usually recoup this and make a good coupon-profit to keep your shopping bills down.

If you look at the Innocent Smoothie Website and the Felix Catfood Website, both of these are touring around with samples at the mo; Innocent definitely have coupons with them as they tour round various summer fairs (as confirmed on another thread) and Felix may well have too as part of their Supermarket 'Roastshows' (see their website for list of where and when).

Never pass a product demo even if you hate the product, check it for coupons! :D
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have never thought of doing that and rely on the magazines and newspapers for my coupons. I have also bought quite a few off Ebay for very little and had great fun spending them :)

I did wonder though where they got all the multiple vouchers from, does anyone know?

There were loads of the £1 off Gardeners world ones on Ebay a few days ago but I would love to know where they are getting them from, would save me a fortune!

My nearest supermarket is Waitrose or Sainsbury. Sainsburys never take coupons unless you buy the product. I use loads of coupons in Waitrose and have probably cut my shopping by 50% as I now shop more often. However, the policy seems to alter regularly and I was told by a supervisor that they could only take up to 50% of the shopping cost; another time that they only took 3 coupons. Today the supervisor told the SA I could pay for the whole shopping with vouchers - well I did pay 34p towards a £6 spend!!
I agree the young male SAs on at weekends are always great as they have always taken whatever I have given them and also agree stay clear of the older female SA.
When I am told a different rule, I just accept it and try again another time because whatever discount I get is money in my pocket.
Our nearest Tesco also seems to change its policy from time to time and I think you just have to find out what the current policy is in your local stores. Never be put off from asking nicely if you can use the coupons, the SA can only say no.

I do know the Lurpack ones that were recently on ebay were stolen! Royal Mail were contracted to deliver them to each house in ceratin areas.

A family member works for RM in the south and I got all the inside gos! A postie was actually arrested on the job as he'd been discovered thieveing MOC's and flogging them on ebay!
