Sorry if this isn't the done thing around here, but just back from Sainsbury's and so so chuffed as got an extra £2.80 off our shop that we strictly speaking shouldn't have lol. It's my first time trying to use coupons when I haven't brought the item on it, so really happy.
I had a £1 voucher from Muller and brought a load of Mullerlights (which are already on 1/2 price anyway, with double nectar points as well) and the guy peered and peered at the voucher when we went to pay (it was direct from Muller for some reason or other, can't remember now) but eventually scanned it in and it came up with the discount. Then we put our second lot of shopping through (we do it in £10 loads to get as many nectar scratch cards as possible) and I had a £3 voucher from Unilever for writing and enquiring about their PG Tips special blend and if it was limited edition or not, a £2.49 off some cider from the front of Good Food mag from mum and a 30p off nestle cereal coupon as well (which we hadn't brought, but had brought Sainsbury's own label cereal hehe). Wasn't going to chance the cider and nestle coupons after the Muller interrogation, but half way through the SA swapped with another guy, so I handed him all three of them (we had brought some PG Tips) and got £5.79 off the total!
HURRAH!!
Feel like a right bargain hunter (even if the mince I wanted they wouldn't reduce grrrr lol). Yeah me!:D

hiya pixiepie well done you! yay! im new at this too and i did my 1st on tuesday only a small one as i have always been 'afraid' of coupons/vouchers,but it workrd a treat in tesco and i ended up with 2 tubes of mcleans whitening toothpaste and a bottle of tesco kids shampoo for just 70p!! i even used a coupon for coco pops!! i was so proud of me yay so i have been in another two times each time getting more daring lol and today i used lots and lots in one go the only one that wouldnt go through was a colgate 40p one-even though it did go through when i went and did my 1st shop for the mcleans? mmm! this time i used a variety if bogofs and coupons and saved £20 and a few pence and gained an extra 50 points too with one,so for me this was a major shopping acheivement. im becoming addicted already,i may not be using them in the manor others have honed to a t but im having a bloody good go at it! well done us!!:j cazian :j

Well done to both of you. Pixie pie, you were lucky in Sainsbury I think as they don't tend to take coupons unless you have bought the product. I always stick to Tesco now and try to avarage 50% off of my shop. I always do smallish shops of about £20 at a time so I am not giving them too many coupons in one go and I always try to find a younger, preferably male cashier and try to steer clear of the midle aged females who know more what they are doing. It's not that I trying to cheat or anything, it's just less hassle with the younger ones. I personally do not use coupons that I know they cant get the money back for as I think this may put the whole coupon thing in jeopardy, and besides, there are plenty of legitimate coupons out there.
Enjoy your couponing, it is very addictive :T0 -
yes great feeling - well done! have just used my mills and boon voucher at the asda self service check out, was on tenterhooks but it went through ok.

There is just the one £2 coupon off Mills & Boon books in this week's Real People magazine (costs 65p). Scans fine & is acceptable in Tesco and Asda as they do stock these books. Some of us have bought ten copies or more already, there's a good profit to be had here!
I posted the info on the magazine thread here, and MBN has included it in the first or second post along with lots of other good coupon info:

coupon-mad beat me too it! we don't have a self service till at tesco's and the sa kicked up such a fuss when i tried to use it there so i tried asda and bingo. the young w/e till assistant put it through too. i went back to buy some more magazines with vouchers, he did look at me as if i had a screw loose when i bought 12 :rotfl:0 -
LOL. If a magazine has a good coupon in it, I buy 3 or 4 at a time, but several times over the week. I am still using up Weight Watchers free meal coupons from the Womans Weekly.

Last night my shopping came to just under £7. I handed over my coupons and the sa pointed out she could only take 5. I told her that was all I had given her, so she scanned them all. The total came to £1.27 and she seemed somewhat bemused by that.. she kept looking at the pile of coupons and didn't actually tell me the total. I took pity on her, handed her the right money and promptly left the scene.. :rotfl:
Best bit is, I bought another copy of Real People in that bagful of shopping, so theoretically I am 73p in credit..
