Real every time. I absolutely hate artificial trees and if I could not have a real one I just would not bother having one at all. Luckily OH feels as strongly as I do!

Have had a real tree for over 30 years with various dogs and cats and never had any problems. Most real trees nowadays don't drop their needles as much as they used to but even if they do there are things called hoovers!

Artificial! I had a real tree, was still hoovering up needles 3 years later when I changed the flooring (they get everywhere!).

I have a cute 6 foot tree which is extra dense, black, and looks fab with my decor. I'd never have a real one again after the mess it made.

Well in over 30 years I have never had a real tree that made anywhere near that amount of mess.

Some of them hardly shed at all and just look and smell so much nicer that artificial ones

Our treedition is to have our fake one I bought years ago and then buy a real one! Im allowed to embrace both on December the 1st and have had no problems with needles, minimal loss and it lasts way into January! This year we have a nice big lounge in which the real tree will just look super fab! Might try keeping it in a tub and growing it in the garden, do feel sad that it dies, but our local zoo asks for them as part of the stimulation for their big cats so I know it will live on as a kitty toy if we dont plant it!

I reckon its what every suits you and your life style, personally I have found buying a real tree so amazing, but I love putting up our original fake one too, its sentimental!

Ahh Im so blummin excited for Christmas and trees now!!!

I have the 6ft bright pink tree from paper chase with crystal decorations and i LOVE it.
  • I love having a real tree. The ritual of picking the 'best' tree, the scent of the pine needles, and the fact I grew up with having real Christmas trees all combine in my love of Christmas trees.

I've bought a silver / LED tree this year. Totally artificial, but looks more like a light than a tree.

We're in the same position as the OP

I have never ever had a fake tree, even growing we always had a real tree and I just carried on the tradition. This year we had a massive re-do of our home new furniture etc.. Now there's no room to house our normal bushy 7ft christmas tree and give room for the branches to drop...

We've recently looked at artifical trees but I cannot bring myself to buy one no matter how good the quality they don't match up the the feel of a real tree and tbh I'd miss the antics of making DH stand and hold 20+ trees whilst me and the boys pick which one is best

We buy ours from Delamere Forest and they last so well, think we'll just have to get a smaller tree this year
