Aye IIRC the regs changed to require normal breakers rather than fuse wire, and then changed again to require RCD be included in the box, but the requirement is/was only for new installations or renovations.
So there are plenty of old installs with either breakers, or even fuse wire out there.
I know our box currently doesn't have an RCD (hence we use RCD plugs) as we had the box moved and it was changed to breakers, but some of the houses on the street are still on fuse wire!
Others are on lovely modern breakers with RCD where the owners have had other electrical work done since the regs changed.0
