New Job

I have been receiving JSA for a while due to redundancy and I just got a new job. I am due to start soon however I'm trying to budget until first payday.
Does anyone know, if my sign on day is a Thursday what period is that actually paying me for? For instance, I signed on Thursday 9th October and that money will go into my bank account on Tuesday 14th. Is that for the 2 week period prior to the 9th (ie 26th September - 9th October)?
Any help gratefully received.
