hi all,
,returned a few days ago from a holiday nightmare to salou port aventura theme park..
a few days into holiday the wife tripped in acafe in salou and hurt her leg.... by the end of the first week we needed to call in emergency doctor who eventually got her hospitilised in tarragona ..
the nightmare then beagn since the staff spoke no english ..little spanish if you belif that and spoke only catalan ..incsurance company in uk ..all clear where ajoke ..the interpertaor was ajoke ..and if it hadnt been fro thomas cook reps helping us out ..(we hadnt taken thomas cook insurance since i am a diabetic and needed extra medical cover) then i dont know what would have happened..
long story short after the most horrendous week my wife was eventually air ambulanced back to the uk....and only after my request was taken to a casualty department immediately....the insurance company wanted to take her home.....
my daughter and myself couldnt fly home with her and flew home 9 hours later on the thomas cook flight ..
our holiday for the second week had been a non goer with me and my 11 year old daughter camping out in the hospital the whole day and only returning to hotel at night to sleep .....
my wife is a nurse and was in agony for most of th weerk till eventually it was got through to the doctor that the paracetemol he was prescribing where a joke she needed something much much stronger....!!!
he only then prescribed dichlofenac which wasnt much better.....uk doctor immediately put her onto tramadol and diazapan to relax her.....kept her in oiver night and has released her with the sid of a zimmer to bed rest afor a few days then only light movement to be built up over a period of weeks andf then to be reasssed as to where her ttreatment is going....BUT WE ARE AT LEAST HOME AND THAT IS THE MAIN RELEIF...
im detailing the nightmare week we lived through since on monday i am going to contact the insurance company now shes safe in the uk and under the care of a uk doctor.....and get stuck into them....for ammunition i have the fact i had to rely on my mobile phone for communication since all clear (first assist) found it difficult getting through to the hospital room on the phone....
also they couldnt get the cataln doctor to communiocate with them since he refused to speak to the insurance companies spanish speaking doctor!!!! i was told the insurance compnay had tried 35 times to make contact
even the air ambulance was a nightmare for her ..not when it eventually arrived but she was supposed to be taken straight to it with the timings so there was no agonising delay ..but the spanish ambulance took her to airport two hours two early and let her sit ........she was supposed to have been stretchered hence the reason she couldnt fly home on a normal flight..
so heres the rub where do i stand ............any advice most welcome...
ive never made an insurancre claim for anything ever but i am so so angry ....
my daughters hoildya was ruined complety but from what i read in the insurance document other than taxi fare for what i kept recipets i dont see what i8 can claim for
please any help gretly appreciated

If your policy covers curtailment of holiday then you would have a claim under that but I can't see much else possible.
I'm assuming the insurance company arranged and paid for the medical costs, air ambulance and your flights home? That's a monster claim in itself.0
