HSBC Delaying Tactics and Loan Protection Numbers

Hi all,

I sent HSBC's PPI Complaints team Martin's template letter, requesting a full list of insurance charges added to my account. I included my current account sort code and account number, thinking this would be enough to identify said charges. However, they replied saying they couldn't find the records and that I need to resubmit my request with the correct sort code and account number.

After a few phones call with their general call centre staff, I've been able to extract two loan protection numbers and that the loan I had was a graduate loan. The person in the call centre suggested this would be enough for the PPI team to pull up the requested information. Does this sound reasonable?

Also, they seem very keen that I fill out their questionnaire, but I am loathed to do this until I have all the data. I am also aware of a deadline aspect to the questionnaires - that this is them drawing a line under the potential for future claims. Does anyone know how long this gives me?

Any info much appreciated.

THanks!

    You should have sent a SAR and £10 - asking for all details of any credit you had with them.

    You need loan numbers to compain, once you have them, that's enough to either fill the form in, or phone them and complain.

    It's not a difficult process, you're over thinking it.

    So now I have the two loan protection numbers, would there be any advantage in me issuing a SAR request to them, in terms of putting forward a stronger case?

    To be honest, I had no idea I was paying any insurance at all. I thought I said I didn't want it but something clearly has been applied along the way. These sort of "extras" I always refuse.
  • Why do you think that you have paid PPI? Nothing in your posts so far indicates that the bank have acknowledged that this is the case.

    There are no "delaying tactics" with regards PPI complaints. Note that there is no court case pending (as there once was with charges) and the Banks have already set aside £billions to pay people who were mis-sold the insurance.

    Actually, the OP does indicate that there was apparently "loan protection";
