Ebay item return query

I bought a CCTV camera 2 weeks ago on ebay paid using paypal.

quality of camera is very poor on receiving item and camera does not click or stay in position when I tried looking at this out of the box.
Camera has not been fitted yet or used, still have lens sticker on.

I did ask seller that quality of cover and camera setting was not as described. He gave me a snotty reply that he has never had a complaint in 000s of sales, even though his ebay profile shows only 2500 feedback. He started questioning my integrity with what I using cameras for and said he would sue me for costs if I return this. Item was less than £30.
at the time I accidentally clicked on return the item in which the seller sent me another rude email saying telling me again he will sue me for costs if I return.

what can I do?
I have not sent item back but wonder how I can get a refund using ebay protection.

thanks

If you stated on the return its not as described, faulty etc, the seller will pay for the return

to be honest I just paid an online delivery company to return it - just dropped it off at the local store for collection, got tracking number too.

when does ebay refund the money? Do they wait for the seller to confirm receipt or what? As this seller is being unfriendly in all his emails esp. with threat to claim damages from me if I return the item!

You need to add the tracking to the case. Check the tracking and update when it has been delivered or attempted.

i did this when i saw an box, asking to add your own tracking number. But when i view the summary info of the item nothing is shown.
item is now with courier, but expect it will take a few days before delivered.
  • i tried updating my ebay item return tracking with the tracking number and courier - MyHermes twice now, but then get an email from ebay that last return date is this Friday.
Item is due for delivery with the seller today. How can i recheck that ebay is tracking my item?
Is there a UK telephone no for ebay?
    thanks

do you mean the ebay page is not showing tracking details? or both it & the myhermes tracking page is not showing tracking status ?

If the myhermes site is not showing tracking updates you might want to get onto myhermes, because ebay will need that status to show "delivered" or "attempted"

I hope it is being updated, my last amazon return using myhermes showed nothing after "collected", the only way I knew it was back was when amazon refunded me. Given this sellers replys I wonder what this seller will do if he gets item back but tracking is not updated on ebays system :-(

I had that once, if I remember right, I clicked on status and nothing showed up, but there was another not very obvious link you could click through to that did show the status. I think I found it by starting from the "dispute" page not the item page

edit, this might not be very clear, i was trying to say there was 2 ways to get to the same"status" page, one showed the status, the other did not, hope thats clearer.
