wanna buy a budget digital camcorder around £50 ? , trouble is ive got a bit frightened by all the techo nonsense multi-region /divx that affected dvd players so what are the main features to look out?- anything to avoid? what are the recording times before memory is full? also there appear to be a worrying array of formatsjust want it for everyday use nothing fancy years ago i bought a analogue camcorder but was annoyed by its battery pack , so need something that runs on normal batteries aswell.Remember years ago budget digital cameras were at times next to useless so are budget camcorders the same?THANKS

in my opinion if you are looking to get a camcorder for £50 then you might as well use the video function on your mobile.

i dont know what you mean by digital. mini dv camcorders use tapes yet these are still digital. or you can get machines that record to dvds. the recording times for a mini dv will be around 1hr. but you dont normally record constantly so the tape can last a week or a month. then you download the footage to your pc and edit it. when this is compete you burn it to a dvd at whatever bit rate you like. the higher the bit rate the less video will fit on the disk. they are region free.

i dont know of a machine that uses normal batteries. i assume this is because the camcorder battery is actually quite high tech and 3x AA (say) wouldnt last very long. a camcorder battery will cost you about £50.

    hope this helps
