Rainy day ideas for Kendal please?

Hi I will be in Kendal next saturday and wondered if anyone had any great ideas for things to do/places to go with my DDs aged 8 and 5, particularly if its raining. I was thinking of things that are local just to Kendal rather than the usual bowling or wacky warehouse though if the weather is bad anywhere will do. Many thanks for all suggestions.

There's the leisure centre, a bit out of town but on a bus route if you don't have a car. Do you have a car because I can give you other suggestions if you do.

Can't think of anything much right now, I usually go out of Kendal to do stuff with the kids!

Yes I have a car so any suggestions within a 20 mile radius are fine. I won't be able to check in again till friday so will have a look for your suggestions then Mrs B. Thanks in anticipation.

Ok, Kendal itself has been chaos so far this week, roadworks both ends of town and a bridge closed for gas mains work too.

The Windermere Air Show is next weekend in Bowness, probably going to be busy traffic wise but if you can get there fairly early it's a good day out.

A little bit out of the way is Ducky's Farm in Floodburgh http://www.duckysparkfarm.co.uk/, and then near Kendal is the Lakeland Maize Maze http://www.lakelandmaze.co.uk/. Both ok for good or ok weather but not much for wet weather.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis http://www.wildlifeoasis.co.uk/page.php?Page=9 a few miles down the A6 but not too far away.
