My Planet Solar Panels - Any experience?
I got a cold call this week offering me Solar Panels through the Government scheme 'Green Deal'. I researched the scheme and it seemed promising so agreed for an assessor to come round. A man from MyPlanet came round this morning and didn't 'know' anything about the Green deal!! This raised my suspicions immediately but as I am interested in solar panels I agreed for the 'consultation' to take place. He was a nice man and explained things very well and it all made sense. However, he preferred me to make a decision there and then or within a short time limit at the very most. This instantly put me off as there is NO WAY I EVER make financial decisions for such large amounts without research and considering other options.
Just wondering if anyone else has had any dealings with this company?

Oh no. It can't be the weekend again already! Search this forum: this question is a frequent flyer on MSE.
Try this for starters:

Had read that thread (and others) before posting but that was only one person's view! Was hoping for more views/experiences but thanks anyway for directing me to the thread0

Your money, your choice. Personally, no matter how good the initial quote was, I would be seeking out at least two other companies for comparison quotes. The website 'YouGen' is a good source of advice on PV Solar installers.
This link allows you to check your likely PV Solar output. It is pretty accurate if you put in the correct information:

The rules of contracts have just changed. Take a look at page 2 of this link which relates to doorstep sales:

Be wary of any quote that includes LED lightbulbs that you can purchase for yourself irrespective of whether you have PV Solar or not, and look carefully at the quote assumptions on the rising cost of electricity and RPI. Compound interest is a powerful multiplier. FWiW, I have a 2.115Kwp system and I expect payback in 9 years based on current returns - without any return from LED lightbulbs!0 -

Or the OP could post on the Green and Ethical forum where there's many people who have PV and are happy to share their experiences
