last minute or expedia when booking hotels in america

Hi

I am planning a holiday next July for DS (17) and myself.
I am hoping to fly to New York, stay 3 / 4 nights, fly down to Orlando and sat 10 nights (got to see the mouse), then down to Miami for a few nights and fly back to Manchester from there.

I have been pricing the hotels via lastminute and expedia and the prices are certainly cheaper via last minute.

Have people got any experience of booking through them or any other recommendations. Would it be better to book directly with the hotel

Many thanks

if its cheaper with last minute then book with them, if a bluray you wanted was cheaper at amazon than at play.com who would you buy from?

have you looked at the potential for some cashback with topcashback or quidco for both companies

I use expedia a lot and only had one minor issue in vietnam but that was only a clerical error that got cleared up quick as.

booking direct? its a matter of price, again go with the cheapest option
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • Have you looked at booking direct with a hotel? Agent aren't there to save you money you know, they're there to line their own pockets.
  • Be wary of last minute. They left us stranded in Norway at a fully booked hotel they had taken our money for. Did absolutely nothing about it!
Never had a problem with anyone else. Ebookers often have a discount code.

I wouldn't just check two companies but use a comparison site like https://www.kayak.co.uk and check both UK and US versions .

I've just booked half a dozen hotels in the USA via TopCashback / Hotels.com.

10% cashback on each booking. Well on the way to a free night bonus. All prices the same or cheaper as booking direct and no currency theft in the middle - same price if I paid in £ or $.

lastminute were very good for me when i booked a hotel for a concert that subsequently went into administration, by the time that happened all the hotels around the area had jumped up in price, They refunded me the difference between the two

I use Expedia for US research but always book direct. Generally hotels have price parity (assuming same conditions for all the major Online players - and if not, (will usually be a human error or an interface error) just screen shot it and ask hotel to match the rate and book direct. Better to deal direct, as you know they have your booking in their own system (many hotels still use manual faxes for lastminute.com as they may not have a direct connection) - and you are then a more profitable customer to them.
