outragouse figure to pay

Please can anyone help ive just asked the CSA to re look at the amount of CSA that needs to be paid after the original figure was far too high and theyve come back with an even higher figure! there is really no point in ringing them as from recent telephone calls its a complete waste of time. The CSA does not seem to be working for any one!...The whole system is a complete shambles

Go and see your local advice centre or CAB. They will help you to clarify whether the money really is repayable or not, and to communicate with the so and sos about how much actually IS repayable, if any.

Agree that CSA are a complete bunch of winkers

You can work it out for yourself. Are you on CS1 or CS2? If you want any help please PM me with the details as I am CSA staff and can give advice.

Think its the cs1 (what ever the old system is ) it seem that you pay more under the old system, im told every one will move over to the new system do you know if this is true and how long will it take? The thing is i am a self employed sub contractor some weeks earning £300 some £200 and have in the past only earnt £100 ish because my job is outside and if its wet i simply cannot do any work. They have qouted my income as £367.87,if i ever earn this its an exception so how do they work it out? many thanks for your info.

You do pay more under the old system as it works on your household income rather than just your income.

But you can ask them how they came to the figure and appeal. They take the amount you earnt last year and base it on that if you are self employed, so as it has been so wet this year you will probably pay less next year - little help I realise now, but it doesnt work well for either side. The PWC has to work a year behind and you have to pay it out of what you have now.

If you go onto the CSA website then you can look for the leaflets on the old system and try and work it out but to be honest its a complicated formula and if you can ask someone on here to help they are pretty good!

The bad news is they are not moving everyone over to the new system any more. They have decided to leave the old cases where they are for now until the computer system stops crashing (might not be in our lifetime!!) so unless the PWC closes the case and re-opens it after 13 weeks there is nothing you can do.

Child support and contact are two seperate issues, the csa will issue a DEO on your wages, i suggest you do not take any advice given by master99 i would think this will only lead you into further difficulty.
