  • Hello all,
In spite of my good intentions I got a bit sidetracked yesterday. Met some friends for coffee in the morning (friend insisted on paying - I need to budget to pay for our next get together) which was planned. Did the food shop - also planned. Then bumped into some old friends and ended up in the pub - not planned. The good thing is I am a complete lightweight so we didn't spend a lot, bad thing is I then fell asleep on the sofa afterwards and therefore achieved - well nothing.:o
Today I am back on track :D
Have sorted laundry and hung out, had a good tidy up, made bacon butties for the menfolk, poached eggs on toast for me (burnt the toast but ate it anyway), took dogs for long walk.
Finally sent e-mail to energy company with a photo of the meter - am hoping for good news.
Just about to prep the veg for a "roast" (YS pork steaks) and make a plum and windfall apple crumble. OH is going to make a veggie bake for tomorrow.
Need to keep moving as it's quite cold and we still have resisted the heating button. We did light the fire in the living room for the first time last night - a little coal and logs left over from last winter (one of the reasons I fell asleep).

So glad we are not the only household with a weird kitchen cupboard foxgloves. I actually completely loath the under sink cupboard - it's one of those corner ones, you have to get on your hands and knees to see into it and I can never find anything in it!

As for all of you who have been selling stuff - you have my full admiration. Really need to get on and do this but keep putting it off - just takes so much time.......

Enjoy the rest of the weekend x

    Greetings Frugal Friends,
Have had a productive positive day, the money-saving bits of which are as follows:
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff. Got it fairly dry outside on the line, have just popped it on heated airer for a couple of hours to finish it off. Set timer for another cheap wash tonight.
*Sowed sweetpeas (free seeds) & broad beans (should have been 50 seeds, but there were actually 62!)
*mr planted garlic (when he gets a good crop, we are self-sufficient for garlic all year)
*Picked up windfall apples while mr f went up a wobbly ladder with the apple grabber to try & reach some of the beauties at the top, out of reach. Filled another basket, then picked more courgettes.
*No heating on, except for heated towel radiator first thing & evenings.
*Baked a lemon drizzle cake & a Norwegian apple cake.
*Bought 3 Christmas gifts at Waitrose, got free 'Observer' & coffees ('My Waitrose' card)
*Took a deep breath & sorted out pantry. Actually, mr f did most of it as I couldn't reach, so I concentrated on baking, which was a pretty good deal. Moved non-food stuff into more relevant cupboards & decluttered a bag of junk into the bin.
*Sorted out Christmas arrangements with sister. Really useful as we even decided what each of us would cook/provide so I can now plan the ingredients I need to buy.
*Checked in for surveys, then couldn't be bothered so checked out again.
*Re-listed 2 or 3 ebay items & answered a query about whether 'Posts only within the UK' extends to Romania.
I really need to update our budgets asap as have mixed up 3 different 'funds' in one purse, so I think I'll just do that, then get my feet up.
Solvencyseeker - Now I've sorted not only the Weird Cupboard', but the pantry too, I want to do a couple more. Decluttering is so addictive once I get started!
Have a relaxing Sunday night, everyone,
    f x

    Hello :hello:

Not a very MS weekend here, as we have had a visitor to stay for the weekend, which suffice to say involved a LOT of tidying up and a more expensive shop than usual :rotfl::rotfl:.

Still, I have minimised the extra expense by cooking all food at home instead of going out for dinner. We had my 'posh' marinated salmon yesterday and chicken, ham and leek pie today. We also had all home grown vegetables apart from the potatoes (we have eaten all ours :()

    Other moneysaving things:

Entertained visitor cheaply by spending time with DD and her little one yesterday (entertaining for people who like babies, and visitor does, and besides she is a relative :)), going car booting this morning, which was a novelty for her, and a long walk this afternoon :D

DD gave me a carrier bag of potatoes as her OH was given a huge sack of them by a customer last week, and she had already bought another one cheaply from someone at work.

    Washing dried on line yesterday

Heating on but only the towel rail thingy in the bathroom and the little radiator in the airing cupboard mornings and evenings.

Wood burner alight today as it has been dull, cold and damp all day :( Still, the wood we are using cost very little as it is mainly offcuts from OH's small woodwork business. Do need to order some logs though, as it will soon be used up

Not a very comprehensive list, which means I really need to get my behind in gear tomorrow, when visitor leaves and OH is also out and I have a day to myself at home :)

    Hey everyone,

I'm not being particularly debt-busting anymore.

After being made redundant I've decided to go travelling, and have an Australian working/holiday visa for a year!

However, I am still using things like GiftHulk, and would love to have someone to trade Fountain of Youth codes with, as I have some that are unused!

Or, of course, if you're interested in starting to use GiftHulk, I have a referral link. =P [https://www.gifthulk.com/invite/GA130804]

    Hope you're all doing well.

    ~Ollie. xx
