Sat 11th/Sun 12th Oct - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning All
Thanks for starting the thread Ziggy! Have a lovely weekend.
So far today I have been to the supermarket for the last shop of the week. Total spend £9.52 which puts me at £2 over budget this week but with a lot of food rolling into next week.
I am on a cereal using up drive as I'm sick of seeing it unused on the side so that's what we all had for breakfast. Lunch has been packed as we now have piano lessons & dance to fit in before lunch. As we are making all journies on foot or bus we are trying to take everything we may need with us like water, snacks etc.
Me & my son made a sponge cake. He did most of the work which is excellent for a 5 year old. Figure the more I teach him the better well save on junk as we all love home made cake.
I have taken chicken out of our monster sack for a huge fried chicken feast tonight.
I hired a dvd from the library using our loyalty points. So free.
We are at half way through the month tommorow in terms of OHs pay cycle and not OD yet & I am hoping we can make it till the 25th by remaining as near to 0 as we can. We have made a lot of progress on that. Mainly by slashing £100 off the food bill. Not that we were ever big spenders anyway but brand dropping & meal planning have got us even further.
Have great weekends all.
P.s Foxgloves, I added my old flour bags to the compost heap which I wouldn't have thought to do before. So thanks for that tip!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning all,
Thought I'd get my post on before getting down & dirty with the pickled onions again!
Today's frugal activity:
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff. All pegged out to get as dry as poss before the rain comes. Washer reloaded for tonight.
*Saved a bit more energy by sharing bath tub, letting hair dry naturally instead of glamming up with dryer & straighteners & saving hot kettle water in flask for next drink.
*Dug a bunch of leeks, picked herbs & gathered more windfall apples.
*Put beef stew in the slow cooker for dinner.
*Mr f has had to work today so I've got no wheels making this a no-spend Saturday, yay!
*Make spiced vinegar to pickle second batch of onions. Will be giving a couple of these as festive gifts with some of my other preserves in hampers.
*Sort out bird food supplies & fill feeders. They will also need to embrace 'Love food, hate waste'......basically, no more re-fills till all the peanuts have been eaten!
*Clear out weird cupboard & use more sensibly to free up space in the pantry (for all these pickled onions :-)
*Mend velvet skirt, cardi & tights to maximise winter wardrobe.
*Check out cat's injuries. He's been scrapping again & I'm hoping a bathe with salt water will help avoid a trek to the vet. He's fine in himself.....in fact was tremendously pleased with himself :-/
Right, pickled onion time..........glamour, or what?

Done the weekly shop at Aldi stocked up on the super 6 which was veg all perfect for the slow cooker!
Only bought apples as fruit as they are the cheapest!
Bought porridge for 75p rather than the sugar filled £2 boxes I usually buy!0 -
LolStevo - Think you're right about branded cereals. The prices are ridiculous & the boxes are way bigger than the actual amount of product you get. We only buy Aldi own brand meusli, flakes & porridge now. There's lots I'd rather spend my money on rather than overpriced branded cereal.....I bet the mark-up on what it costs to produce is huge.

Helloooo again! today I have stayed in with the kids all day, here are mine....
- made biscuits with the kids to eat after dinner as a treat, they love baking and we only used flour, marg and the brown sugar I got dirt cheap with an aldi voucher in the mirror a couple of weeks back.
- my friend asked me to have her kids this afternoon while shes at work and as a thankyou for having them over dinner time she provided all of us with a couple of large pizzas and garlic bread, free dinner for us!
- I was originally going out tonight which would have cost me a babysitter, petrol, parking, dinner out and drinks but I said no so my day was definitely cheaper than first planned!
- more biscuits going into the oven tonight for tomorrow when a friend is coming round for a cuppa in the morning (the biscuits the kids made didn't satisfy my baking OCD hahahaa!)
- had the heating on for a couple of hours this morning and dried all school uniforms on the radiators so that I can have them all ironed and put away later so I don't have to do it tomorrow.
- as I stayed in this is my 3rd day in a row that I havnt touched my bank account, still living off the money I made selling games yesterday and hoping to make it last til Monday to pay for DS school dinner money
happy weekend everyone xx0 -

Hi guys
I hope you're all ok! I have been around for ageeeeeees just because life has been tough taking on dgd, money has been flying out of our accounts and just not having time & energy to post! But I do need to get in a grove so we don't go the wrong way financially!
Small things today:
* make a veg stew, potato & leek soup & aubergine gratin to use up veg
* bake banana bread, weetabix brownies, raspberry muffins for the week ahead & freeze in portions
* make apple crumble to use up apples. Have loads so will freeze some for another time
* hang up washing on line & will finish off on the heated dryer this evening
* do another load
* freeze the bread before it's too late
* sand & paint windowsill and radiator
* take dgd to the park for a little while this morning
* go visit a friend to give her her birthday card
* wash & blow dry my hair tonight
* get clothes ready for working week
* make up dgd's sandwiches for tomorrow and Tuesday
* freeze rest of the ys raspsberries
Ok think day is largely going to revolve around using up the veg & preparing food for the week ahead! Have a great day everyone x

Hello there
Funny enough I was just wondering whether you still posted here as hadn't 'seen you' since I returned. Is your grand daughter staying for a while?
My business is temporarily on hold through no fault of my own. We suffered a big blow back in May that turned into an insurance nightmare that is still on going. I can't say more really. There is legal stuff going on etc. Thankfully I have received some funds but I'm living month to month at the moment. Anyway. Many thanks for asking. Nice to see you
