Double trouble - Building Supplies Online (BSO) and Parcel 2 Go

Hi all,
Would really appreciate any suggestions as to best deal with a situation with both a company called BSO (Building Supplies Online) and the courier service Parcel 2 Go.
We purchased a Velux skylight a few weeks ago which was delivered with the handle on the wrong side and given 14 days to return. Thinking we would have plenty of time we took up Parcel 2 Go´s 2 day delivery service and the package was picked up on 25th. Last Friday (3rd October), having realised that the package had not arrived back to BSO I started to chase Parcel 2 Go. On the Monday (6th) I received a message that everything was fine and it was on its way. This turned out to be a lie and it was only delivered on Thursday 9th (i.e. past the exchange date). BSO then stated that the courier company had damaged the package and they would not have been able to accept the return even if it did arrive on time. The photos they sent hardly showed any damage other then a hole in the box which did not effect the window and maybe a bit of wear and tear. The product itself was in perfect condition.
Parcel 2 Go offered to repackage, but BSO refused point blank refusing to accept we acted in good faith (we have the itenary) in sending it within plenty of time. Now Parcel 2 Go are saying that the package was left in their warehouse all that time as they saw the damage (which they themselves inflicted!) and didn´t want to deliver but, oddly, they delivered it in the end. So I have two problems here:
1st - BSO are saying that the problem is with the courier company but I am sensing something fishy as the box was hardly damaged they are refusing to acknowledge that we tried our best to get it back in time.
2nd - Parcel 2 Go are saying that the box was too damaged to deliver. But I am wondering why they ended up delivering it anyway if they knew what was going to happen?
Should I take them both to the Small Claims Court?
Any comments, advice would be gratefully received!
Thanks,
Ruban

BSO are nothing to do with the issue, you contracted Parcel2go to deliver, they failed, did you take out the required insurance to cover the transportation back to BSO?0

The key issue here is going to be whose fault this was. Did you order the wrong item, or did they send the wrong item?
For the former, this would need to be a cancellation under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If so, what date was the window delivered to you?
For the latter, it is a Sale of Goods Act return. This will be much easier to deal with as there is no time limit for the return.0
