Cheap Energy Club switching time - help.
Hi Everyone, hope you can offer advice.
I moved into a new house at the end of may, i used cheap energy club to try and switch from current supplier (Scottish Power, though i've never had a first bill of them i contacted them and they said if i switch they will generate a bill from meter readings supplied to new supplier and then send it to me to pay) to First utility as that is what the system said would be cheapest.
I input all my details on the 18th of August and hadn't heard anything back at all and the website just says 'in progress'.
So i rang first utility, they don't have any notes of my switch. Do i just wait even longer (even though iv'e waited since 18th of August) or do i just switch manually to first utility? (quidco have £50 cash back atm as well which is more than the £30 cep will pay.
I just don't want to mess anything up and cause any confusion if anything is likely to happen with the cep switch?
Many thanks,
Scott

2 months is a long time. And the longer you leave it, the longer you are paying the more expensive tariff with SP. If FU don't have any details by now from MS, then I'd very much doubt it has processed successfully. It specifically says FU should contact you within 10 days of the application. When I switched to FU just recently, I had an application acknowledgment email and account setup within a day.
I would proceed through quidco for the £50 cashback, and then apply direct. If anything comes through with the other application, you are already with FU anyway, so you can phone up and explain the situation if it causes any hassle.0 -
Hi Empyrean
I'm sorry to hear that your switch hasn't progressed. Your chosen supplier is supposed to keep you updated with how your switch is progressing, so it is disappointing to hear it didn't get in touch nor did it have any record of your application.
If you'd like Energy Club to look into this for you, please drop us a line to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com.
