Why is this account not mentioned? 3% int

Hi savers,
Martins top current accounts list seem to omit the Tesco Bank Current Account (sorry can't post the link as a new user)
Anyone know why?
It pays 3% up to £3000
Useful if you've already got Santanders 123, Club LLoyds and 2 TSB Classic Pluses all maxed out!

Anyone see a catch?

It's not omitted, it's merely below those accounts you mentioned. There's no catch to it.
  • My mistake!
    Thanks.

Bank of Scotland Vantage is omitted from this list though, a good home for up to £15K @ 3% with no DD requirements and allowing internal funding. Whether it'll follow the other LBG brands in being downgraded only time will tell, but for now fill your boots!

Except that there's a £5 monthly fee if you don't fund it with £750 each month.

Tried to apply for Vantage account with Bank of Scotland but application stalled when asked to nominate a branch. There are none south of the border presumably, just Royal Bank of Scotland which is a different thing entirely. Shame because I liked the three vantage accounts I had with Lloyds and there is no requirement to set up direct debits.

When it offers you the branch select option during the application process you simply type in Edinburgh and choose a branch there. It matters not a jot what branch you choose unless you're ever planning to go there?

Just pick a branch in Scotland.

My account holding branch with Lloyds is in Carlisle. The actual account holding branch is irrelevant.

  • I must admit I was aware of the BOS Vantage but did not try to apply because I thought I needed a branch somewhere near me. I have just applied and been successful and now feel rather silly that I have missed out on this account for some time.

How do I open the other two accounts? Is it the same as with the old Lloyds Vantage where you had to phone up and listen to a load of waffle?

Just log on and on the right hand side you select Current Account and simply apply for another. At the end of the process it will ask you to give another Username and Password. Do not put the ones you currently use because it wont let you, certainly not with the Username anyway. So think of a new Username & Password and put that. Having said all of that, the new Username & Password are useless because the new account that you apply for will appear alongside your existing one and you will continue to use the existing Username & Password to login with! But there's no other way to do this in my experience.
