Problem with a CCJ

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place I wasn't sure where to put it. Basically my partner has a CCJ against him which was paid and settled or so we thought. After getting a credit report yesterday as we are looking in to buying a house we found that it was actually on there as unsettled. So today he called the court and they said that its down as not been paid. He then called the company who was paid and the guys solicitor who got him the CCJ. The company said that they had been paid and it had been settled but obviously the guy hadn't told his solicitor that it had been paid so they couldn't inform the courts. So as imagined I'm very angry as we haven't been able to get a mortgage because of this and also any credit he has applied for has been rejected OR the interest has been sky high. He actually had a loan where the interest was a ridiculous amount because of this. I understand that the CCJ would still be on there wether settled or not but surely it would look better to creditors if it had shown it was paid and sorted?

Basically do we have a leg to stand on if we claim against this guy for not declaring that the CCJ had been paid? It's disgusting that people can get away with this.

A CCJ whether settled or unsettled will have a bearing on how any lender will view an individual and on what terms they will conduct business if at all.

When was the CCJ settled?

Age wise it's beginning to have less of an impact. Though you are up against individual lenders criteria.

Was the CCJ settled with 1 month of being given to you?

No unfortunately being stubborn and very stupid he didn't pay it within the month. He's regretting it now!

I just don't understand why this guy didn't tell his solicitor that it had been paid so the courts could have been informed??

Not his concern. The monies been paid. Didn't bother your partner to pay it in a timely manner. What goes around comes around as the saying goes.
