But it seems such a con that a Franchised Dealer can sell a car which is so flawed and expect the customer just to bring it in for repair each time having paid the money for purchase.

It seems like a major flaw in the consumer rights of a individual where they cannot reject a car even though is fell so far below my expectations. The CC company and the Dealer said that the clause of the contract "I believe that the vehicle is in roadworthy condition" is not breached by 4 major faults

EGR valve, battery and alternator are all items which are likely to need replacing at least once in a car's lifetime. Neither a failed battery nor EGR valve could be construed as "major faults", and alternator failure and replacement isn't usually a major job.

There is a possibility of a connection between the battery and alternator failure.

I would agree that the gearbox failure is major. But at the end of the day, you now have a car with new gearbox, alternator, battery and EGR. And if these were all done under warranty at no charge to you, then i would suggest you are now in a better position than on the day you first drove off the dealer's forecourt.
