Applying for credit card during move

in Credit cards
Hi all -
I am currently in the process of buying and selling a house; we have buyers for our property and have found a property, and are nearing the end of all the legalities (i believe solicitors are currently looking over land registry info.) According to them we are around 3 weeks away from having a moving date.
I however want to apply for a credit card and am worried if it affects the mortgage as it will make a mark on my credit score. I have already had my credit offer issued and I am assuming the credit check was done then and another one doesn't get done when it's actually setup, or am I wrong? I was also worried about the change of address thing, but I'm confident all important documentation such as the actual cards will arrive before we move and then we can just forward anything from there.
Does anyone have any experience/advice on this?
Thanks!

Wait to complete then apply for all the credit you like."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

The best advice is always to wait. The lender may do another credit check prior to releasing the money and depending on your situation the additional credit may or may not cause a problem.
Personally I got a new card between receiving my mortgage offer and exchange and picked up my keys this afternoon; the universe did not implode because of the credit application.0 -
if its Halifax they do random checksDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Depends how solid your credit history is. If it's perfect, you're likely to have no issue at all. Mine was (in my opinion) very good, no adverse anyway, and I took out a CC between application and completion with no issues.
In fact, I used the card (which had 0% on purchases) to pay my mortgage fees (Nationwide). The had no issues accepting it, and it didn't affect the application at all, but YMMV. That wasn't the reason for taking out the CC, and NW were aware of that, as I had the cash in the bank with them, which may (probably) have helped.0 -
+1 for waiting. I would defo not apply for anything until done and dustedI am a Jedi MonkeyYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Jedi Monkey, so you need to take my word for it. Was wondering the same thing myself, would be useful to have a 0% card to cover some of the moving costs.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
