Euro Car Park PCN - Courtesy Car

Hi everyone,
I've got a slight variation on the usual PCN, as my wife was driving a courtesy car at the time. She didn't realise that the 'free' car park in Chesterfield had time limits and went over the two-hour limit. She's had a PCN from Euro Car Parks, but it wasn't her car so we presume that they've written to the garage who loaned the car, who have then confirmed that she was in possession of it on the day (unless the DVLA had the data somehow, as the letter says they contact the DVLA for details of 'owners').
We haven't responded as yet, and wouldn't declare who was driving, but the standard letters here are all tailored to the Registered Keeper. Would anyone have any advice on how to proceed (beyond my original thoughts, which were to ignore it completely).
Many thanks
ML

I would just change the letter to say 'driver' rather than keeper, and use the letter anyway (the one in the NEWBIES sticky thread). Also remove the sentence in the middle that says you won't be divulging the driver. Telling them she was the driver isn't terrible and makes sure they cannot write again to the Garage at all and it's all within your control to win at POPLA. Easy!!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for that, much appreciated. Although, isn't divulging the driver meant to be a 'bad-thing'.......?0

Not as good as being the keeper but you can't risk further letters going to the Garage in case they are daft enough to pay it and try to charge you. You can still easily beat ECP as a driver, at POPLA, as the charge still isn't a GPEOL (see the Newbies thread).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
