When can I apply for a new bank account? (default)

I tried applying for a new account in May (Halifax) but was declined due to an internet default (£90). I thought the default was older but at that time it was only 11 months. I paid the £90 in June so now the default is 1 year 4 months old and settled for 4.

Anyone have any idea when banks might accept me again? I would like a lloyds club to put my 4k savings in but don't know how long I need to wait to apply.

Have banks written their criteria re defaults and current accounts anywhere like some have done for defaults and mortgages?

Check your credit files because that is what banks will be doing when processing your application.

I have. The only negative on them is the settled default (and the then active default was the only reason Halifax gave for rejection).

If there's anyone who's been in this same situation I would be grateful to know how old the default needs to be (surely it doesn't need to be 6 years if a mortgage doesn't automatically require that? I hope at least) to be considered for a bank account.
