Halifax - New Customer?

I have just closed my halifax credit card today. The MSE article on when are you a new customer indicates that Halifax/Lloyds would be a new customer 30 days after the last statement. My last statement was today so I'm hoping to apply for a new card in a months time.

Does anyone have any experience of the 30 day new customer? is the guide a rough indication or very factual?

Would it be better for my credit score to wait a few more weeks say mid December before applying so they can all catch up and be updated?

Thanks :)

    As that guide says:
The length of time you have to wait in order to qualify for the hot intro deals is up to individual card companies - there's no golden rule here, but we've asked the big credit card providers for a rough guide to their policy (don't take these as gospel)

Took 3 months for my closed barclaycard to show as such on the CRA files. Due to batch processing and reporting cycles etc it can take much longer than you'd expect in this day and age for the CRAs to update.

You need to read the exact terms for the offer you are applying for to see if you qualify it. Many providers have fairly consistent rules but they can vary them for any single offer that they want.
  • My old Lloyds card had to be closed for 6 months before I got a new card from them.

Whatever article this is is incorrect. It is 6 months.
