Hi people, I,m doing my first ever car boot tmrw, it,s under cover, with toilets, so no probs there. I,ve priced most things, but can anyone tell me how much small change I should take? Do I put everything out at once? any hints and tips would be appreciated:beer:

i went to my first on last week
it was rather good fun and be aware regardless of things being price people will still try to haggle which i have to say peed me off lol. I was selling avon stock my mum wanted rid of for between 25% - 50% of selling price and people still wanted more of cheeky beggers! i told them where to get off lol.

people will swarm round as soon as you arrive - don't let it panic you and think carefully when you tell them how much you want for stuff - half of your first batch of sales are probably going to be to people who also have stalls.
they'll be professionals! you'll sell them something for £2 and it'll be on their stall ten minutes later for £5.
depends on why you're doing it though - if you don't mind taking stuff home keep your prices to what you want. if its to get rid then you let people haggle so you don't drive home after 6 hours having sold just two items.0 -
Thanks folks, I,m a bit nervous of this , dont know why as I,ve been sort of on the sales front all my life. I,m doing it both to get rid of some things and also because I really really need to raise some cash this month. A lot of stuff from Boots ect. I feel it would be an idea to take the reciepts for these (I,ve kept them) as there is quite a lot, and people might think I,m a "dodgy bird". Bought these when glitches appeared in coupons ect. some Tesco stuff too.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Lol, don't worry about looking dodgy you'll be fine. I bought a load of stuff from Boots Xmas sale, 10p Tesco stuff and h&b stuff bought with coupons and flogged them at a car boot no probs. You will get stall holders who will try to get it for next to nothing, if they're buying loads you might offer a discount otherwise tell them to pay up. I know lots of people on www.paidtoshop.co.uk have been selling their Tesco hauls at car boots, might be worth asking them for pricing ideas.0

Take some carrier bags.
Don't be afraid to say "no" (politely of course) to offers and have a counter offer ready.
And as for change, try and sell them something else for the change, ie if they spend £6 and give you a £20 note try and make it up to £10 at least!.0 -
I went to a good one today, loads of hagglers out and about. I was pleased as i bought a russain wedding ring for £10.00, started at £15.00. I also got a Sony radio for £3.00 with duracell batteries included. Most thing go for £1.00 or £2.00, clothes 50p- £10.00.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

I went to a good one today, even with the drizzle. The best stalls had a variety of things out on the tables and some rummage boxes. I noticed they were popular. Also the stalls that had a section of stuff for one price got a lot of attention to, but maybe thats a local thing....
I got a picture for our living room for £2, and a handful of whimsies for a tenner cos the guy was wanting to go home
now to have a look and see what I got and what I can sell them for.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

Hi folks, well I survived, but it was VERY quiet. Didnt do too badly made £140 profit after counting in the fees, next time may try a saturday, as according to other stall holders it,s busier then. Paid DD1 for her help with 2 pairs of Red or Dead shoes, plus matching bag for £6.00 from another stall.
TIFINSTAV you where right about the other stall holders, not too greedy but one lady bought a chiming clock from me then straight away had it mounted on the wall at her permanent pitch, bet she wants more than the £4.00 she paid me. Dont care though as I got it free. I had a laugh too so it was quite a good day. Thanks for all your help.
P.S. had DD,s dog with us a three legged greyhound, 2 wee boys wanted to buy it, I told them we were selling it 1 leg at a time, the look on their faces PRICELESS:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
