Depends why you want the system?
Insurance companies often insist on certain installers some offer discount on premiums etc
You need to take into account
Do you have pets, children (different sensors may be better?)
Does system come with guarantee if so how long and what’s included?
What are there call out/ reset charges
How often they will come without a charge
Do they insist on maintenance if so must it be carried out by them and how often?
What are charges are for replacement items (they’ll tend to find something “faulty “every year )
Can systems be worked on by third parties?
Do fobs have batteries if so how long do they last can you replace them yourself and what do they cost?
Is the alarm primarily wanted as visual or more covert to catch the thieves in the premises?
Rodents and insects can also trigger alarm if you have them a plenty you’ll be paying each time they reset it?
Pir are they movement, heat, Microwave, etc combination of these or just singular of one .
Do you need it monitored ?If so who going to do it friends, family or a paid for third party
Often companies will fit alarms at cost or very near as they hit you with call outs. Maintenance etc.
Wireless although have improved give false alarms more than wired systems Its not hard to install a system that does as it should but will give you false alarms in certain conditions and yes some certainly use this tactic
As too systems there are set out grades Grading of Detection and control systems, Signalling Systems, Grading of maintenance etc

Many think I want x or y without looking into the real cost or what they really need it to do. It’s not so much are these any good more have your thought about what are the real cost and what you need..
  • Thanks, very helpful.

These are all PET friendly PIRs.

Lots of helpful points which I will clarify.

I was wondering if there were comments on the main units, pyronix enforcer vs Castle care vs Visionic?

    Thanks

Units are graded to an extent if there all same grades e.g. 2 then they’ll be very similar casing design may differ but often components are all from same manufactures you need to know grades? normally marked on them, the packaging etc or ask the installer if they don’t know then how have they judged your need? the alarm industry is cowboy heaven personally I’d look at cctv system as a starter you can pick them up very cheap set zones to alert you when someone approaches see them on you phone etc more effective generally if you want linked to an alarm as I said it depends do you want them to break in and be caught or scare them off before yes they can wear mask etc but then if they want to get in an alarm stops no one just annoys them and sometimes makes them have to act quicker
