OK so I checked here http://www.csa-uk.com/consumer/our-members/ and they're not listed. Is this the right place to look? Assuming they're not members, is there any template letter for me to use to write to the DVLA?
Shall I also write to Met Parking saying the debt recovery firm they're using are acting 'in breach of their KADOE registration' and as such to cancel the PCN and to stop writing to me (or words to this effect) or would they then just use another debt recovery firm?0 -
Nope just write a normal email complaint and use the email addy in the Newbies thread. We don't write template emails as they only need to be a few lines, best written in your own style of complaint as a genuine consumer.Assuming they're not members, is there any template letter for me to use to write to the DVLA?
Yes, why not.hazysunshine wrote: »Shall I also write to Met Parking saying the debt recovery firm they're using are acting 'in breach of their KADOE registration' and as such to cancel the PCN and to stop writing to me (or words to this effect)
Who cares if they did? Who cares which silly debt collector 'call centre plebs' send you the junk mail?! Ignore the debt collector hysterical letter chain, whatever the letter heading. Obviously never ignore a real Court claim but that's different and won't happen.or would they then just use another debt recovery firm?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks. And shall I send the template email above (as planned) to DRP? Should I add something that mentions they're not on the CSA and therefore should immediately cease any further communication?
Should I also write to Met Parking telling them where to go in light of the fact they're using DRP who are not part of the CSA?
Thank you0 -
For my letter to DRP I have used the template above and added a paragraph about them not being a member of the CSA - how's this?

Dear Sirs
Parking Charge Number: MPXXXXXXXX
I refer to your letter of XX/XX/XXXX, and earlier correspondence.
Firstly, I have no intention of paying the money demanded by your client, and any court proceedings will be vigorously defended.
Second, should it be your client's intention to start court proceedings, they must provide a Letter Before Claim which complies with the requirements of Annex A Para 2 of the Practice Direction on Pre-action Conduct:
http://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/civil/rules/pd_pre-action_conduct
Please also note that a failure and/or refusal to comply with the Practice Direction will result in a complaint being made to the court and an application for a stay of the action and costs pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 4 of the Practice Direction on non-compliance and sanctions.
In the meantime, you should note that this charge is disputed, and you must now refer this matter back to your client and cease and desist all further contact with me.
As you are not a member of the Credit Services Association you have no right to harass me and I shall be instructing Met Parking to cancel this PCN and cease and desist any further contact with me, as they are in clear breach of their KADOE registration by using your company in relation to this matter.
I trust that I have made myself clear.
Your Faithfully

Will do!
How is this for a letter to Met Parking? Note I have already sent the letter at the very top of this thread and not received a reply yet, so is it OK to send this as well?
Met Parking
Dear Sirs
Parking Charge Number: MPXXXXXX
You are in clear breach of your KADOE registration by instructing the services of a wholly unregulated company, Debt Recovery Plus, as they are not a member of the Credit Services Association.
I demand that you cancel this PCN and cease and desist any further contact with me.
I trust that I have made myself clear.
Yours faithfully

No it isn't a train station - shall I just send it as it is?
Thank you0 -
Yes I would send it then, as is. The links shows you the calibre of MET though, and the depths this industry sinks to!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello,
I received 2 letters, one from MET and one from DRP.
MET Parking
All they said was "Thank you for your correspondence received XX/XX/XXXX. This case is currently with our debt collection agents Debt Recovery Plus, they can be contacted via the following methods......."
(note - the address they provided for DRP was
DRP, PO BOX 259, Ashton Under-Lyne, OL6 0ES, which is different to the address on DRP's letters - PO BOX 411, Dukinfield, SK14 9DD, which is the address I've written to)

Reduced Payment Offer to Avoid Court Proceeding £150
"We refer to our letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. As we did not receive payment from you, we referred your case to the creditor with the recommendation that they appoint their solicitor to commence court proceedings against you.
In order to comply with all aspects of 'pre-action protocol' and to demonstrate to the courts their attempts to settle this matter before the need for court proceedings, our client is prepared to accept a reduced payment of £150.00 in full and final settlement.
To take up this offer, you need to pay no later than XX/XX/XXXX. You can pay online or by phone. Go to
https://www.debtrecoveryplus.co.uk/pay or phone 0844 561 0965. Full details of how to pay are shown on the back of this letter. If you are having difficulty paying, please phone our payment helpline on 0844 561 0965 to discuss payment options.
What if you don't pay the reduced amount?
This is our client's final offer before they pass the case to their solicitor.
If you do not pay the reduced amount by XX/XX/XXXX, or you have not agreed a payment option with us by then, the amount due will go back to the full amount of £150.00 and the matter will be referred to their solicitor to consider court proceedings.
Please note that if you are liable for this charge (please see overleaf for details) and the court orders you to pay the parking charge, we will seek to recover the following amounts from you as well as the parking charge:
Court fee £25
Solicitor's costs £50
A Court Judgement against you could seriously affect your ability to obtain credit in the future.
When you contact us, please quote reference number XXXXXXX.
What do I do now? Next Steps.......
With DRP, firstly, they have not responded to my letter, they have merely written to me as I didn't pay, and have not acknowledged my letter at all.
Secondly, their reduced offer is £150, but if I don't pay, then it goes back to the full amount of £150?!
Should I do anything with DRP?
Should I write to MET and demand a POPLA code?
Please let me know your advice on my next steps,
Thanks a lot0
