Payday loan default query

Options
Hi All

Am new here and have hopefully got the right forum for this post.

A little while back I got myself in a bit of trouble with payday loans and ended up with several loans that I couldn't afford to repay.

I spoke to each of the companies in turn and made agreements to repay the outstanding amounts in instalments. I have continued to make payments and everything seemed OK.

However, a few weeks ago I phoned each of the DCAs that now have the accounts for settlement figures as I wanted to establish whether I could use a small windfall to clear some debts. Since then I have had several entries with default notices appear on my credit report.

As I pro-actively contacted each lender I never received, to my knowledge, a default notice although understand that technically I did default on the original agreement.

Is there anything I can do to clear these entries from my file? I have contacted Experian but they will only let me add a personal statement to my file. As these debts have now been sold on is there any way of requesting copies of the defaults?

Thanks in advance.

The entries are accurate. You originally borrowed money and agreed to pay back £x per month, or £x on whatever date but you did not so you have defaulted on the original agreement.

as an aside, your credit rating will be negatively affected by using payday loans whether you paid them back on time or not
  • Your credit report just has to show a truthful history, which it is.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
